Thanks for your comments Doug!

I think the best thing about being in FABE is the buzz I get from our concerts. As a trumpet player I've played in symphony, chamber and wind orcestras, played out the front as a concerto soloist, played in brass bands and other chamber ensembles and as yet haven't experienced the same buzz I get from playing in FABE.

There was a time in the not too distant past when I found the quintet less enjoyable. This was due to our programmes containing a bit too much contemporary music and I began to sense some restlessness in the audience. Don't get me wrong, I think it is important to play contemporary music but at the end of the day people pay money to be entertained and it is important to strike a balance. We've got it sorted now .

I think when I talk about the 'buzz' from playing it stems from the fact that I like to live dangerously!! I particularly like the live recordings as I don't think it gets any more scary!!! All of our programmes are physically demanding yet at no point do we ever shy away from anything in some sort of chops saving exercise. When you really go for it in performance and all goes well the buzz is really quite incredible.
