Hello Bryan

Thanks for your message about blowers. The short answer is yes we do. The most frequently used is the C trumpet as virtually every modern piece is either written for it, or at least they work better on it.
I do use the Eb but only for James Macmillian's Adam's Rib as it fits perfectly for it. I don't ever use a D trumpet. My logic is pretty simple, play everything on the Bb unless you need it to be precise enough to the extent that you need a piccolo. We also use cornets from time to time aswell. Me and Ange are very lucky in that we both play and endorse Richard Smith's trumpets (Smith-Watkins). They really are the best blowers across the board that I've ever played, and I have to add that this is a choice decision - he does not pay us a penny for playing them!
