FAB in Holland

This message was contributed by Thijs Bouten on 28/5/06.

Hello FAB,

Well, I'm Thijs Bouten, 17 years old and I live in The Netherlands. I play an instrument myself too, a tuba.

You were giving a concert at our school a few days ago, on a Wednesday. The school is named 'Bouwens van der Boijecollege', or in short 'BBC' and it is in Panningen.

The concert you played was just 50 minutes, but it were 50 great minutes. I was truly enjoing it. It wasn't just nice to hear, but it was also very educational. For example I didn't know the tuba is a family of the saxhorn, as you told me.

Afterwards I joined a workshop for people who played an instrument too. What can you do in a workshop of just 50 minutes? Not much, but you have done it well.

As I have allready told, I play a tuba. I play in, I don't know how you call in English, but in Dutch it is a 'fanfare-orkest'. It is something like a harmony, but then without wood instruments, and more brass instruments. This year we have Jubilee, we excist 150 years. I also play in three 'joekskapellen', those are little groups who play just on parties and festivals.

What I just wanted to say, I highly enjoid it you guys were here. For me it was a great experience. Hopely I see you again on July 31th in Sevenum. On school they said you would give a concert then.

Greetings,

Thijs Bouten
