rehearsing

This message was contributed by Jim Bulger on 17/7/05.

Hi,
firstly I must say that I think you guys are amazing, I was just listening to one of your cds in the car and couldn't get over the playing (the one with 'Picures' on it). My question really is one trying to understand how you rehearse, obviously you're all great players at the top of your game so the parts won't be a problem so do you just work on ensemble balance or is it more about interpretations? Also, Simon and Angela, do you think about trying to match sounds or does that come naturally in time. I'm in a quintet at the moment (Tempus Brass) and we all want it to go far. We've done well in comps etc but I think our major problem is rehearsing. Any tips? Thanks in advance,
Jim Bulger
