As an ex-tuba player, I can state that the reason Phil is SO good is that....he, too is an ex-tuba player.

Of course, were he an ex-trumpeter, hornist (even an Elizabethan pretty-boy style one), or even a trombonist, he wouldn't be half as good - given the inherent qualities of the personalities of people drawn to the diferent instruments. Yes, folks, these are all well-known facts. Ask Spike Milligan.

But Steve! BB flat Bass, eh? Have you ever managed to play staccato? Whenever I sat behind the beast, my shortest note clocked in at 7.5 seconds. How do you do it?
