Philip Wilby

The latest Fine Arts News states:

"A major new commission for 2005
We are to call on Mr Wilby once more..."

Mr. Wilby is going to have a busy year. Among other projects, he has also been commissioned to compose the Test Piece for the first ever World Brass Band Championship, being held in Kerkrade, Netherlands in July 2005. My band hopes that it will be a good stroke of luck for us (we're representing the US and Canada in Kerkrade), because we enjoyed good fortune playing Mr. Wilby's "Leonardo" for our Choice Piece this year at the 2004 North American Brass Band Association Competition.

I continue to enjoy FABE's eNewsletters, and I hope to hear the group live some time in the future. In the meantime, I'll purchase the West Side Story CD when Nimbus finally gets around to recording and releasing it! I can't wait to hear that great arrangement of the "Cool" fugue again!

Thank you,

Steve Marcus
