Q.Which commission do you all like playing and why?|
A. Dear Jim
Commisioning new works is one of the most exciting parts of our work. Over the years there have been some real winners and the occaisional turkey, but that's to be expected.
Amongst my favourites are (in no particular order) Souster, Nyman, Mathias, Holloway, Wilby- Classic Images.
Pieces seem to go in and out of fashion as tastes and internal dynamics change. It is often pleasant to play pieces after a gap of a few years and hear them with fresh ears.
The most exciting prospect is a new work by American minimalist Michael Torke.
